WHO WE ARE

Lauren Agrella-Sevilla

Inpowered is born out of a deep belief that we can heal our schools and communities by tapping into daily practices and ways of interacting that build connection. Lauren Agrella-Sevilla brings a wide range of experience – along with a giant heart for this world –  to her work in consulting with schools, teachers, student groups, community organizations, businesses, and families. She holds Masters degrees in both Social Work and in Educational Leadership, and is a licensed clinical mental health therapist.

Lauren has served as a middle and high school teacher and coach and in school administration, has been a small business owner, and has held roles in educational nonprofit leadership. She is a mindfulness educator and trainer in restorative practices, having completed training through Mindful Schools and the International Institute for Restorative Practices.

Lauren grew up in a military family, moving frequently within the US, competing in Junior Olympic track and field for much of her childhood, and attending UNC-Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain scholar. A Division I athlete and competitor, Lauren knows what it’s like to feel driven and to be able to push beyond mental barriers to achieve goals. Her own experience has also shown her how being disconnected from what’s happening within us can be severely limiting. She knows what overwhelm, unrealistic standards, anxiety and depression feel like. And she knows we have the power to feel better both personally and collectively.

A mother of two young sons and a mental health therapist (LCSWA), Lauren has been a yoga teacher and meditation practitioner for some years. Learning to slow down has been a challenging and imperfect journey, but it has been an empowering one, and one she is joyful to share with others. She believes intensely in the necessity of nurturing teachers and parents so that they can show up for the young folks they care about year after year.
